Welcome

Hi, my name is Elliot Grice and this is my AS Media Blog for year 12

Evaluation

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
In all James bond films there is a chase in them where there is a good guy and a bad guy. The bad guy is always the one who has stolen something or has done something wrong. My movie differs from real media products by it not being as professional as the real hollywood movies, The music is not the same and the chase does not flow as well as real movies do. My movie develops and or challenges forms and conventions of real media products by it being the same kind of genre and going on the same path as some action chase films do.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our media products represents typicall teenagers and how they are associated with stealing things and being annoying youths. Our product is based on a chase which something has been stolen so the social group which it is represented with is teenagers because it fits in with stealing and unacceptable behaviour.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The kind of media institution who will distribute my media product would be the internet as it has a huge range of media products and it will fit in with all of the other products. The cinema will have a small space to show my media product as they only have a certain time and certain showings to be able to show the film, so the cinema will not be able to show it. Another kind of institution which could distribute my media product could be by book, the film could be written up as a book and distributed all over the country to all the different book shops.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
Any ages would be the audience for our media product as it has no specific age group who can watch it.  Friends and family would be a big audience to watch our media product as they would like to support us as we have made it. The audience that would see our media product would be anyone who would go to the cinema to watch it, if it made it to the cinema and others who would read it, if it got written as a book.

How did you attract/address your audience?
We gave out a questionaire and showed people samples of our product and also shown them our shooting schedule. We made a stop start film using lego, briefly showing what was going to happen in the movie, this took awhile but it was worth it as it showed a more clearer view on what was going to happen and where abouts it was going to happen. As a group we all sat down and started to build the locations with lego and each took it in turns to move the lego man bit by bit to show that he has moving and also took turns in taking the pictures which would eventually make the film.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I have learnt all the technologies about the imacs and how imovie is used and how to edit the movie bit by bit.
I have also learnt how the properly use a video camera and transfer the filming onto the macs and then to edit the film. I also learnt how to effectively work in a group to get the task complete and to be able to make a good film.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I have learnt a lot such as how to properly edit a movie using imovie on the imacs. I learnt how to fit music in perfectely with the film and to move and edit text into the film. The final film was so much more professional than the preliminary purely because we didnt really know what to do with our preliminary and when it came to making the final film we experimented and learnt new things and used them.

Final product

This is our final product. In this video it stars Chris Day, David Wardle and Duncan Barber, and also in the video is Ash Nimmo and Elliot Grice. The main part of the first two minutes of this film is about a chase in a small town called Market Harborough.

Research: marketing and distribution

These are the certificates and the classifications for different rated movies. These tell you what is going to be involved in the movie and what is not allowed to be involved.

research & planning: film company logo's

This is our film companys logo, it is a simple black ace of spades (with outlines with white splats of paint). We chose this logo as it is simple but there is a lot going on in the picture which tricks minds making it out to be something bigger than it already is.
